When I was growing up my mom was not going for any of that “skip class stuff”, so anything that released on a school day was a lost cause for me. To this day, a ton of shoes release on week days, making it hard for young people to get them. We wanted to change that for a few people. I am so happy to have the opportunity to reward these same types of kids with a free pair of shoes for doing the right thing, all of the time. I grew up in Columbus City Schools, so the district holds a very special place in my heart. A lot of people rule these kids out, simply because of what we look like, where we come from and other surface level features. I’m here, living proof to show you that you can break that narrative. Just keep being who you are, and find something you like, then chase it with everything that you have. Don’t be afraid to dream. Thanks @nikesportswear & @thesocialstatus for the opportunity to give me a platform to use to inspire my people. To all of you kids, no matter where you’re from, we see you. Keep doing the right thing, even when you don’t fully understand why. We are just getting started.. it’s up.
